What are the requirements to get into an internship in a hotel?+
You have to be between 18 and 32 years old. You must be a student and your school/ university must be able to provide signature and stamp. You must have a good knowledge of at least one of the following languages: Spanish or English.
What if I don’t speak Spanish?+
As most of our companies are located in a touristic area, they mainly accept students who speak English. A proficiency level of English is mainly required. Of course, if you speak other languages, it’s always a plus for the company. So don’t worry if you don’t speak Spanish.
And if I am unhappy with the hotel?+
TJT will assess your evolution on a weekly basis and, should you have any kind of problem, we will help you with it. Should you require to change hotels, TJT will offer you any available options within the same type of work. Please bear in mind that you must have justified reasons for wanting to change hotels as this kind of situation creates a problem for the hotels.
Can I return home at any time?+
Any alteration of the finishing date must be for a justified reason. In any case, the money will not be return to the student. The company will ask for a written information of your departure.
Where will I be accommodated?+
The hotels always provide shared accommodation without any extra costs for the student. Normally, you will share a room in an apartment with a person of the same sex and one who is working in the same hotel. If your internship company is not a hotel you should pay for the accommodation expenses.
What if I cannot find the hotel on the day of arrival?+
If you are not accustomed to travelling, TJT will arrange a pick-up service from the bus station to your assigned hotel for a reasonable price.
How long does the internship period overseas last?+
Normally between 2 and 6 months. Try to arrange the maximum period possible to take full advantage of the experience. Some hotels exceed the 6 month period but never exceed a period of one year.
Will I need to spend money?+
Even though the accommodation is paid for by the hotel and food is provided during the shift work, you should bring some money. Most of the hotels with which we work pay €150 monthly to the practicing students. Before your arrival, we will confirm how much your assigned hotel will pay. In any case, bring extra money for unexpected expenses.
Will I have everything confirmed before arriving in Tenerife?+
Yes. Before leaving home and for the peace of mind of your family, you will receive a written dossier with confirmation of the assigned hotel, length of stay, accommodation, assigned department of work, necessary addresses and telephone numbers.
How many hours do I have to work per week?+
You will work 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day with two days off per week.
You will get your weekly schedule one week in advance.
Some departments require part time shifts along the day and others can be done 8 hours per day in a row.
