Step 1
Why did you select Tenerife for your internship? Because of the weather, the hotels or the best holiday destination in Europe? You have decided to come here and make it true and we will make it perfect.
1.-Puestos de prácticas disponibles:
Cook and cook asisistant:
This is one of the most offered vacancies which not only gives you the option of employment in hotels but also in the best local quality restaurants where you will be able to use your knowledge of cuisine plus be able to learn the secrets of traditional Spanish and Canarian cuisine – very popular at the moment due to the importance of “The Mediterranean Cuisine”. Periodically, there are specialist courses locally offered. Consult us! You may be lucky enough to participate during your stay. Many of these courses are subsidized by the local town halls and, therefore, very affordable.
Reception – Assistant Receptionist, Assistant Reservations’ Receptionist:
These are the most demanded positions in a hotel. They are also the positions which require a higher level of Spanish due to the constant contact with clients as well as coordinating with the rest of the hotel staff and to maintain the influx of Spanish clients. If your level of Spanish is not good enough, we could offer you other posts for a sufficient period in order to improve your level of the spoken language.
Quality department:
Spain has an official acknowledgment of quality service from the government for the tourism companies called Q of Quality. It is quite a hard job to maintain this title year after year so hotels have created this department which in contact with clients, staff and departments tries to keep the best standards of quality by checking services and procedures.
Public Relations, Assistant Manager, events, sales:
These positions require special preparation and some experience. They would be suitable for persons with a high level of Spanish who have a Post Graduate degree in tourism in either Public Relations or Management. The level of Spanish is important.
Animation team:
The fundamental basis of being an animator is your ability to get on with people, to empathize with them and to be an extrovert, entertaining and fun-loving person. Do not worry about the language. It is more important to have a basic command of several languages than a good command of just one.
Gardening:
Hotels in Tenerife are famous for the magnificent garden landscapes around them. Students will be part of the gardening team working five days a week, eight hours a day. The assistant manager at the hotel will act as a tutor of the students to make sure that at the end of the training the students will be able to understand the full process of gardening at a special property as a five star hotel placed inside of a natural area. You can learn a lot about sustainable gardening.
Spa reception, beauty and relax treatments and therapies:
This is an internship offered specifically to students of physiotherapy, beauty and relax treatments from educational vocational schools of this speciality.
Waiter and Assistant Waiter:
Hand in hand with the maitre d´Hotel, you will learn the excellence of good service. Remember that a good level of Spanish will be the key to start as an Assistant Waiter until such time as you have sufficient and fluent command of conversational topics in the appropriate language and can attend to clients in a befitting manner. Patience is of the utmost importance.
Carnival costumes training:
This is quite an unusual internship but last year edition was a great success: the students work on building huge costumes of four meters high by four meters wide to compete at the Queen of Tenerife carnival conquest. You do not need to be an expert as any type of materials are used, is not a question of sewing at all, is great and fun:
